So I am going through pictures of 2012 and wow I had forgotten some of the things we had done.  It makes me long for the beach again and warm summer days of outside play.  Soon enough we will have all those things again.  Well, maybe not the beach.   All I can say is that we have been blessed in 2012.

Anyway, I thought I would share a recap with you of our 2012.

At the end of 2011 we welcomed Adeline to our family so the beginning of 2012 was spent trying to get into the routine of having another member in our family.  By the time spring rolled around we were ready to be outside and Sofia was used to having a baby sister around.

Playing outside meant a lot of playing in the dirt and mud for Sofia.  I have so many pictures of Sofia digging in the dirt, turning dirt into mud, and of course showing off her muddy hands.  I always say you know it has been a good day when Sofia is completely filthy at the days end.

We celebrated my sister graduating from high school.

Then came a warm summer and a lot of time was spent in the sprinkler and pool.

We took part of a week and went to Wisconsin for vacation.  We camped and spent some time along Lake Michigan.  Sofia loved playing on the beach.  She wouldn’t get too close to the water, but she loved the sand.  Addie on the other hand we had to keep her away from the sand because she liked to eat it.  Yuck!

In 2012 we welcomed a new niece and cousin to our growing extended family.

This past summer Sofia broke her wrist and had to spend three weeks in a bright pink cast.

Every summer we go to St. Louis with Brian’s family to watch a Cardinal baseball game.  This year was so hot and sticky.  We went to an evening game and it was still in the 90’s.  Yikes!

We had lots of fun at the Illinois State Fair.  It is the one thing that Sofia really looks forward too each summer.  She loves seeing all the farm animals.

We spent a lot of time in our little garden this summer and fall.  This was our first year making grape jelly from our grapes.

We experienced a horrible drought this summer.  We had a few rain showers, but not enough to really help.

Sofia started taking a dance class this fall.  She loved it and will be continuing to take it in the new year.  She takes a combination class so she is learning tap, jazz, ballet, and tumbling.  She still wants to be a ballerina when she grows up.

Sofia started preschool at home this fall.  We did not intend to homeschool, but everything seemed to point us in that direction.  We have enjoyed it so far and Sofia has learned so much.  I love playing a part in her learning.

We had such a warm fall that we were able to spend a lot of time outside playing, jumping in leaves, and visiting a pumpkin patch.  The girls had so much fun at the patch playing in the corn box and picking out that perfect pumpkin.

Brian ran a half marathon in the rain.  Oh, it was so cold.  I don’t think I could have done it and that is why my husband is awesome.

This year for Halloween we had a purple fairy and a very cute little gnome.  Sofia has already planned out her costume for next Halloween.

We then of course celebrated Thanksgiving, Addie’s first birthday and then Christmas.

I think we had a full year.  I can’t wait to see what 2013 is going to bring us.
